Lama Zangmo visits Kagyu Samye Dzong Dublin

Friday 31st May – Sunday 2nd June

Friday:

6.30pm – 8pm:                 Teaching on Milarepa with short readings on his life

Saturday:                       Green Tara Day

10am – 10.30am:            We will be moving the bust of Akong Rinpoche from the Shrine room to a new setting in the garden, shaded by a tree which he helped to plant.

Akong Rinpoche had a strong connection with Green Tara; his Monastery in Tibet is Drolma Lhakang, which literally means Green Tara Temple and his life and activity certainly shows those enlightened qualities that are associated with Tara, swift activity out of deep compassion, to help beings in any circumstances.

10.30am – 12am:            Green Tara Puja

12am – 2pm:                     Join us for Lunch in the garden.

A simple meal is provided, feel free to bring some extras like salads, finger food or deserts.

2pm – 5pm:                        Teaching on the meaning of Green Tara with Questions and Answers

Including Tea Break

Why do we do a practice like Green Tara Puja? What is the purpose, what is the benefit?

Lama Zangmo will give us a general introduction into visualisations as they are practiced in Tibetan Buddhism. Then she will explain more specifically the meaning of Green Tara and overcoming the sixteen dangers and fears through this practice.

Sunday:

10.30am – 12am:            Teaching on ‘The Four Thoughts that Turn the Mind’

Thrangu Rinpoche in his book ‘The Three Vehicles of Buddhist Practice’:

It is said that the foundations are even more profound than the actual practice itself and that the amount of benefit and development that emerges in the main practices is related entirely to how well one has prepared oneself through the foundations. There are two kinds of foundations, the four ordinary foundations or four thoughts that turn the mind and the four special foundations or the four preliminary practices.

2pm – 4.30pm:                 Teaching on Meditation

Including Tea Break

Lama Zangmo will give Meditation instructions. In short meditation sessions we will put these into practice. There will be more time for questions at the end.
