The Four Thoughts that Turn the Mind
Embarking on study and practice of the Foundations
With Ani Yonten
“It is said that the foundations are even more profound than the actual practice itself and that the amount of benefit and development that emerges in the main practices is related entirely to how well one has prepared oneself through the foundations. There are two kinds of foundations, the four ordinary foundations or four thoughts that turn the mind and the four special foundations or the four preliminary practices.”
Thrangu Rinpoche in his book ‘The Three Vehicles of Buddhist Practice’
For all those who are interested to seriously engage in study and practice of the Foundations, we want to start a long-term programme.
There will be two opportunities to come to an initial talk. The Four Thoughts that Turn the Mind will be introduced and how it is that they are so essential for the actual practice i.e. Calm Abiding and Insight Meditation.
Then the idea of this programme will be explained, and we will discuss the time you have available, the commitment you are able to take and how we can best support you to engage with your study and practice. If you are interested or even just want to know a little bit more, come on
Saturday 15th June 2pm – 4pm
or
Monday 24th June 6pm – 8pm
The dates and times for the programme will be decided and announced afterwards.
