New in KSD Dublin, this beginners Tibetan class will focus on learning the Tibetan alphabet, basic reading skills, basic grammar and vocabulary. This will enable one to read the Tibetan script and have some basic skills – and once the basics are covered, then one can move into more intense learning of the language, with an emphasis on reading and understanding Dharma texts.

The class will take place on Saturdays at 2pm from 26th March for 10 weeks and costs €100 – this will mainly cover the fee for the teacher and running costs of the Centre – it is possible to pay in instalments if finances are an issue. To book a place on this course please email info@buddhism.ie

The classes will be given by Tenzin Choephel and uses his textbook – the Manual of Authentic Tibetan.

About Tenzin Choephel – born and raised in Tibet, he subsequently travelled to India for further education. He spent ten years of his life as a Buddhist monk which gave him the opportunity to study the Buddhist philosophy deeply.

He received a BA in Buddhist Studies from Drepun Loseling Monastery and a BA in Tibetan Studies from the College for Higher Tibetan Studies. His goal is to preserve the beautiful Tibetan language by teaching the language to others. He was a Tibetan History and Culture Teacher at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies and also spent two years designing and delivering the Tibetan Language class at Thosamling Institute in India.
