Mindfulness training helps us to develop an awareness of our minds, assisting one to
develop a friendlier, more compassionate response to our inner and outer worlds. This
training has the potential to be truly transformative as it helps us to develop skills which can
allow us to be more present and accepting with whatever life throws our way. It can also
support us in abandoning old habitual patterns that may harm ourselves and others. One of the distinctive qualities of the MBLC is the kindness and compassion practices that are woven throughout.

However some caution is also warranted where the development of greater awareness may
sometimes mean getting in touch with difficulties one may not be ready to face. If this could
possibly the case and you are considering the course you could discuss this with your GP or
other suitable health professional.

A Mindfulness-based living course consists of eight classes, which are typically two hours
long, preceded by an introductory class before the eight week course begins. A day of
mindfulness practice is also typically included between Weeks 6 and 7.
The weekly themes are:
Introductory Session – What is Mindfulness and Why Practice It?
Week 1 – Start Where We Are
Week 2 – The Body as a Place to Stay Present
Week 3 – Introducing Mindfulness Support
Week 4 – Working with Distraction
Week 5 – Exploring the Undercurrent
Week 6 – Attitude of the Observer•Day of Practice
Week 7 – Self-Acceptance
Week 8 – A Mindfulness Based Life
Follow Up – The Rest of Your Life

The classes will be hosted in Kagyu Samye Dzong Dublin on Thursday evenings 7.30pm – 9.30pm starting April 28th 2022.
